The Spryfield area combines the space and beauty of the suburbs, with the convenience of living downtown.  With its many lakes and forested areas, it’s hard to believe you’re only 5 minutes from the downtown core.  With many schools, recreational areas and community organizations, Spryfield is a great community to live and raise a family.

  • New landscaping and benches at Golden Age Seniors Centre
  • Support Golden Age Seniors with assistance to ensure they can run programs
  • Herring Cove Road and Purcell’s Cove Road traffic issues – obtained council approval for two consultant studies and inclusion in next capital budget to implement improvements
  • Convinced Council to enhance the Captain William Spry Centre and renovate entire building, new skate park and entrance, bridge to connect to communities.  New playground to follow
  • Initiated the Herring Cove Road Streetscaping public engagement project which continues to have funding and improvements each year
  • Convinced Halifax Regional Police to open a community police office on Herring Cove Road
  • Worked with the business community and Council to establish the Spryfield & District Business Commission
  • Added high level reflective crosswalk flags in key crossing locations on Herring Cove Road and Purcell’s Cove Road

My plans for the next four years:

  • Implement consultant recommendations to improve traffic flow on Herring Cove Roads and Purcell’s Cove Road merge area. This will also reduce neighbourhood short cutting and speeding
  • Finish the widening on Herring Cove Road to allow for construction of new concrete sidewalks and bike lanes and street tree planting
  • Finish Captain William Spry renovations including new playground
  • Make the trial mobile food market a permanent service
