Residents will notice some recent changes to Ardmore Park in Peninsula Halifax. This is a very well used park with many amenities including two rinks that are organized by hard working community volunteers. I had a request for an accessible swing and I met on-site with a resident and her enthusiastic daughter Jayda. I felt that the area could hold two pieces of equipment, so we installed a new swing and also an upper body climber which provides children with disabilities an opportunity to build upper body strength and muscle memory. During our site visit we noted many de ciencies such as rotting wood and the need for enhanced landscaping. These repairs and some upgrades have been addressed by municipal operations.

Recently we held a public meeting for a service dog park which enables persons with visual impairment and other disabilities to train their service dogs. Previously there was a park on Cogswell Street; however, the North Park roundabout required the park to be decommissioned. At the meeting, residents expressed their views on the park and this feedback will be re ected in the design and operation of the park. Residents also reiterated the need for enhanced maintenance for not only the future service dog park but also the existing park. For the presentation at the public meeting and information on the future service dog park please visit lindamosher.ca under the News tab. Work will commence this summer.
